The Arctic Refuge is the largest remaining stretch of wilderness in the U.S. – and one of the last remaining unspoiled places on our planet. It is home to iconic wilderness, polar bears, snowy owls, caribou, jaegers, and other endangered species. The Native Gwich’in people that live there call the Refuge's awe-inspiring coastal plain The Sacred Place Where Life Begins.
And Donald Trump is about to give his corporate funders the green light to cover it with pipelines and oil derricks.
Trump’s Secretary of Interior, David Bernhardt, confirmed preparations to auction off drilling leases “by the end of the year,” a move that overturns six decades of protections for the Arctic Refuge.
If Trump and his friends get their way, they will devastate Native communities, migrating caribou herds, endangered polar bears, and more than one million acres of public land, as well as put thousands of tons of carbon into the air.
We must stand together to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from destruction before it’s too late.
