Trump and his allies are sowing chaos around the November election – undermining the postal service, trashing vote-by-mail and spouting false claims of voter fraud.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
Fifty-five years after a young John Lewis was beaten and bloodied marching for voting rights on the Edmund Pettus Bridge, we should be at a different place in America. Every single elected official of both parties, beginning with the President, should be working to boost access to the ballot box, not tearing it down.
There are moments when the people are called upon to teach their leaders what real leadership looks like. That’s what John Lewis did.
Now, it’s our turn.
Dr. King said, “If you can't fly, then run, if you can't run, then walk, if you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving.”
SIGN THE PLEDGE. Tell Trump, McConnell and the rest: Your vote suppression campaign is not going to stop us from getting to the ballot box in 2020.
